Government assistance

The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) provides financial assistance to Ontarians attending postsecondary school with demonstrated financial need.

OSAP offers funding through:

  • Grants: money you don’t have to pay back
  • Loan: money you need to repay once you’re done school

The amount of OSAP funding you’re eligible to receive is determined through a financial need assessment and is based on your costs and resources. Visit the OSAP website for more information and to apply.

If you’re attending Sheridan from a province outside of Ontario, you can apply for government assistance through your home province.

Helpful tips to fund your education

1

Students from Ontario: Apply for OSAP right after you’ve accepted your offer of admission to Sheridan. It can take 4–6 weeks for your OSAP application to be processed.

2

Apply for scholarships, awards and bursaries through Sheridan’s online award system at the beginning of each semester. Your completed application will automatically identify any scholarships and bursaries that you’re eligible for.

3

Create a budget and stick to it. This will help ensure your money will last through the year. Be careful of credit card promotions. It’s easy to spend too much on credit, but can be difficult to pay the debt off.
